The Hatsuyume are the deviants of the Land of Iron, rather than focusing their energy on simple Taijutsu or Chakra blades they appear to possess chakra techniques more akin to that of the Shinobi than Samurai; of which it is theorized that they took inspiration from generations ago. The Hatsuyume specialize in the usage of Yin Chakra of which they use, along with their training, to enter and manipulate the dreams of other lifeforms.

While the individual combat skills of the average Hatsuyume are considered well below average, especially when compared to their Samurai counterparts, that does not mean that one should ever look down upon even their Apprentices for a Hatsuyume does not fight you face to face but rather indirectly. A Hatsuyume will patiently stalk and wait for you to fall asleep then confront you within your dreams when you are the most vulnerable. Hatsuyume can easily manipulate others within their dreams do give them what they want, often or not simply information that would be neigh impossible while awake. All they have to do is force you to replay a memory in the form of a dream then simply listen. Though more advanced Hatsuyume also have shown the ability to directly manipulate and influence the psyches of people through their dreams. If a Hatsuyume does not wish for you to get a peaceful nights sleep then you simply will not, if they wish for you to have the worst nightmares of your life then you shall. Sleep deprivation is one of the most frightening things that a Hatsuyume can inflict upon one as it is not them that tears you apart but rather you own body as it becomes tired and paranoid, eventually shutting down after days of no sleep. The best part is that you would never even be aware that it was a Hatsuyume.

Due to their skill sets they are often or not employed as spy's, assassins, and infiltrators amongst their country folk.

Though a Hatsuyume does not generally fight one directly it does not mean that they are incapable as at the end of the day they come from a society of Samurai and they have learned these skills as well to better supplement their shortcomings. Skilled members are said to be able to force others to dream while they're awake called Waking Dreams, thus allowing them to manipulate their consciousness in the consciousness world. Members often or not have a variety of tools at their disposal to do this ranging from simple poisons, sound based relaxation or lullaby's, to various other Jutsu.

Neophyte Hatsuyume, often those below the lowest rank of combatants, focus on their training in order to firstly fall asleep at any given time and most importantly enter their dreams as well. Secondly once an apprentice masters this they then learn how to become self-aware in their dreams as to always know the difference between reality and their minds own fantasy. Thirdly they train on altering their dreams to their whims and lastly how to rule their dream world as to become the true masters. Once a Neophyte masters this they can become and Apprentice.

Apprentices are those who have truly begun to step into their role as a Hatsuyume as they begin to learn how to enter the dreams of other lifeforms. To do this an apprentice must learn how to sense the dreams of others, train how to project a portion of their consciousness into the dream, then gain the ability to influence and manipulate those dreams to their whims.
