Clay is most well known for his strange habits, as when he says that he goes with the flow he literally means this; never being concerned for ores, sails, or a navigator in his travels. He believes that any injury, both physical or mental, can be cured with one of the countless numbers of herbs in the world. As such he is a extremely gifted herbalist, and more than often seen pipe smoking or injecting his own herbs or one reason or another. Clay is also often seeing bartering with others for his herbs, and is often... vague when explaining the effects of his herbs; exaggerating the benefits and leaving out many of the side effects. Strangely, and most unknown quirk of his, is his lover for all of the pretty ladies; having a strange and uncanny charm with younger women. Due to his age, and general mindset, he likes to take advantage of his age and appearance to get out of trouble; often playing the insane old man card. Tending to make jokes about his age, height (being almost 5ft tall), or that he essentially acts like a crazed old mountain hermit. Because of his natural mindset many people (including himself) tend to forget that he is a infamous pirate, and many more believe him to be a high ranking marine.[/list]

As strange as it may seem the early life of the infamous pirate known as Clay Doz could be considered to be nothing but average. Having been born on a island in the Grandline known as August Grove, a Autumn island, to a family of penniless travelers. Their reasoning for traveling to the island, on which he was born, was due to the rumors of its beauty and more so to a freak storm changing their course the night earlier, and they may of been fleeing from marines. After only a few weeks on the island they decided to move onto the next island to see what was in store for them there.

The majority of his early life was spent in this fashion, with him and his parents traveling from one island to another, find some way to make money, and travel to the next. It was not until Clay was round 15 that he began to grow tired of his parents life, as well as hitting that rebellious stage in life, and instead of boarding the same ship as his parents he instead signed up into a random pirates crew he found at a bar. A group of pirates that he had never seen nor heard of before.

The name of the pirate that he signed up with was Gerald, a cruel and merciless man who would rather sacrifice 10 of his own men rather than give up on the treasure chest over the next wave; that being said, this was the reason why Gerald was hiring random people on the island... to fill the rapidly decreasing roster. Being in the rebellious stage in his life he saw Gerald as the opposite of his parents and therefore the perfect role model. As such his own mind and way of thinking became more like that of the captains; cruel and prone to extreme violence for petty reasons.

Many years passed in this fashion, with both his own and his captains bounties raising bit by bit until the day arrived in which he was granted the prestigious position of first-mate; a position which was vacated earlier that day after he was shot 16 times and fed to hungry fish, and was most likely fueled by a random liquor induced rage or a completely random impulse. After the advent of his promotion most of it went to his head and his reputation, along with his mindset, fell deeper into the darkness where his captain dwelled. Countless acts of cruelty towards civilians, unprovoked attacks on marines or pirates alike, destruction of marine bases, robbery, and countless others for the question of obtaining the currency known as gold.

It was not until that he reached the age of 30, and more importantly reaching a bounty exceeding 300,000,000 that the marines finally decided that enough was enough; their senseless rampage across the grandline had gone far enough. With the decision made they knew that they had to send someone more able than a marine captain. So instead they gave the order to a nearby bored Shichibukai, who only took on the task to pass the time. After confronting Clay, Gerald, and the entire crew; the resulting battle ended with the deaths of both the Shichibukai and the entire crew other than Clay himself. Who afterwords was given all of the credit, or blame, for the defeat and death of the Shichibukai.

After the death of his entire crew Clay's personality drastically changed into what it is today, becoming much more free-minded and easygoing. Changing until the point that most of the marines and pirates who knew him well were barley able to notice that he was the same person. With the news of their Shichibukai's death they not only increased his bounty to what it is today but a week after they gave him the vacant position. Knowing that his cruel reputation would go a much longer way than that of the formers.

Though with the change in his personality it is sufficient to say that some of the marines were less than happy to see that their former ruthless, blood-hungry attack dog is now a calm and gentle hermit. Though after seeing that he was still more than able to fulfill their needs, and he had quickly became friends with the current fleet admiral as well as many of the other higher ranking marines, he was able to retain his position.

As a Shichibukai Clay used his position do do what he always wanted, always wanted from that suppressed side of his mind, travel with the flow as his parents did. Soon finding himself in the presence of countless new pirate crews, many of whom he personally obliterated for various reasons, and many others who he gave helpful tips or advice to. Some of which became well known and powerful thanks to his advice in their earlier years.

It was during these years that he he picked up herbology, or more specifically after he ingested a random poisonous plant that he found while on a deserted island and half starved. Being near death, delirious, and hallucinating heavily he began to ingest other nearby plants, one of which happened to be the natural cure for the other one; though not before he spent nearly 4 days wandering around a deserted island nearly naked and hallucinating. After which he became curious on what the plants that he ate on the island were. So on the next island he found himself on he obtained quite a number of books relating to herbology and the long path began.

Nearly 40 years later he found himself to still be a member of the Shichibukai, looking like a crazed old perverted mountain hermit, and one of the most renounded herbalists in the world. Having held his position for many years he takes his position... somewhat seriously as he sees his job to not just be some attack dog for the marines but as a guide for any new pirate or marine. As such he enjoys following the paths of new upcoming pirates and can often be found among one of their ships, who most of which never even realize that he is one of the Royal Shichibukai. Rather they see him as some kind old crazy guy... who just blew up a ship with no effort... Because of this interest he tends to know most of the current pirates, both good and bad / young and old. Though this interest has also made many higher up marines suspicious of him as he has the knack for sending many pirate crews down certain paths, many of which come out all the stronger for. [/list]

[b]DEVIL FRUIT[/b]The Poppu Poppu no Mi is a paramecia type devil fruit which gifts the user the ability to create and control bubbles as well as being able to 'pop' anything as if it were a bubble; effectively making the user a Bubble Man. This fruit is not to be confused with its sister fruit, the Awa Awa no Mi which gives the user the ability to create and control Soap bubbles and cleaning abilities. The greatest strengths demonstrated by this fruit is the users ability to produce a countless number of bubbles of varying sizes; some as large as a eye and others as large as a ship. Unlike normal bubbles they can become tougher, as they have been shown to be able to block bladed weapons; effectively meaning that they can become as touch as normal bubbles to diamond. These bubbles are able to float and be controlled by the user, more importantly they can lift and carry objects on top or within them. But the greatest strength presented by the bubbles themselves is their ability to 'hold' anything within them such as air, gasses, people, or even other elements; effectively trapping them inside and unable to escape. This also means that the user is able to control what can pass into, or out of their bubbles; making them effective traps or cages. Though as they have a limited space within them each bubble can only hold a specific amount of something within it, once it passes its critical mass it will result in the bubble popping. Though this can also be used to the users advantage as the popping process itself is violent in nature, akin to a shock wave based explosion.

The second part of this fruits ability is the user themselves ability to 'pop' anything they touch with their hand, feet, or weapon as if it was a bubble. Anything popped by the user acts, and spreads around the area, as if was a liquid. The user can then freely spawn new bubbles from the puddles that this creates. Though unlike the bubbles that the user produces from their body, any created from puddles or the puddles themselves revert back to their original shape, density, and weight after a few minutes. Though unfortunately they do not gather back together. In the case of living creates the act of 'Popping' does not cause death, rather it is more similar to the effect of the Bara Bara no Mi; meaning that they can be put back together once they revert back to normal. If a bubbles is made from a living creatures puddle they can talk and see as a bubble or puddle, though are unable to preform any physical act. [b]FIGHTING STYLE[/b] | Despite his age Clay is still referred to as one of the strongest pirates sailing the seas. His sheer combat experience and skill by itself is enough for him to challenge most pirates under his skill level; utilizing a form of hand to hand combat which focuses on the redirection of movement instead of blocking along with quick and precise strikes. Being quite agile and strong for his age though most importantly one of his greatest strengths is his awareness and deductive ability. Being able to notice nearly anything around him to great detail and able to deduct the inner workings even the most mysterious of abilities or technologies. With the addition of his devil fruit abilities he prefers to play the role of the reactor, meaning that he waits to deduce his opponents style of fighting while using the most minimal effort.

[b]STRENGTHS[/b] | With Clay's age and experience, combined with his devil fruit abilities, he is still a formidable and versatile warrior. Though he does not possess the same level of physical ability as when he was a Shichibukai nearly 20 years ago, he is still formidable enough to take on opponents with his strength, speed, and ability alone. Many finding it strange that a seemingly weak and brittle old man is able to outpace most and lift boulders the size of houses with little effort. With his age also came along the the sheer time to advance his haki ability to the highest levels. The addition of his endless consumption of countless unknown herbs also came a immune system far beyond a super humans.

[b]WEAKNESSES[/b] | His strengths being said, his age is something that has finally caught up to him. He is unable to take as many hits or utilize his body as a weapon for extended fights. Forcing him to rely more and more on his devil fruit abilities as well as his cunning or haki rather than brute strength or speed. Character Personality: August is, from what most can tell from his appearance alone, a go-with-the-flow type of guy. He does not enjoy making plans, setting destinations, or even worry about where will end up next; nor is he one to worry about where he has been or anything he has done. He enjoys traveling more than anything, taking a fond interest in seeing and discovering new islands and animals. Often being seen tagging along with random pirate or marine crews just for the sake of doing so and meeting new people. Though most of all he enjoys learning and gathering rare herbs and plants for their various purposes.

What most come to expect of someone his age, he is a very calm and laid-back old man. Nothing ever seems to bother him, even when people are openly hostile towards him or attempt physical harm. Treating everyone and everything, even plants and animals, as if they have been friends for ages; often been seen talking to animals as if they were humans and when asked he claims that they can understand him with ease.

August, despite the way he looks and generally asks, is not one to anger or prompt into a fight for he has obtained his generally unheard position for a reason. Having little to no problems, or showing no hesitation when devastating entire pirate crews.
